THERMAL STORAGE WATER TANK EMERGENCY REPAIR
This cast-in-place concrete tank was leaking approximately 16,000 gallons per week. Gale determined that there was near complete degradation of the existing waterproof coating, failed internal plumbing supports due to corrosion, interior of tank had about 3/8 inch thickness of soft “punky” concrete, and extensive cracking in perimeter concrete tank walls. There was also very limited “confined space” access through a single 2’ by 2’ hatch. Gale successfully designed the repairs to this tank and performed construction period services. Following completion, this project was expanded to include the next two tanks.
The International Concrete Repair Institute (I.C.R.I.) of New England awarded Gale with the 2007 Project of the Year Award and National I.C.R.I. awarded Gale with the 2007 Award of Excellence.
