ROOF AND WALL EVALUATION

This neoclassical landmark structure, constructed in the early 1930s, features a limestone, granite, and terra-cotta façade. The building envelope suffered from age-related deterioration accelerated by man-made factors such as pollution, road salt, and poor maintenance practices. A recent adaptive renovation of the building preserved much of the historic fabric of the building envelope, except for a clay tile roof, but failed to provide a watertight building. Gale performed a building envelope investigation and evaluation, utilizing a 135-foot boom lift to reach every area of the roof and wall systems. Mechanical sounding of the overhanging limestone cornice was performed to detect concealed flaws in the stone. Gale also conducted systemic leak testing as part of the evaluation. We provided a complete building envelope evaluation report.
