ROOF EVALUATION

The building’s roof, which consists of a modified bitumen, inverted roof membrane assembly (IRMA) with extruded polystyrene insulation and stone ballast, was experiencing continuous water infiltration, progressive deterioration of the roofing membrane, associated membrane and sheet metal flashings, and deterioration of sheet metal seams in its parapet cap flashings. Gale reviewed the original architectural drawings and performed a thorough evaluation of the roof system and associated flashings of the main roof and adjoining canopies and penthouses. We also performed destructive testing of the roof system. Gale was then able to provide the Department of the Navy with an in-depth report of the existing conditions, short-term solutions, and full roof replacement options for long-term budgeting.
