EXTERIOR FACADE EVALUATION
Constructed in the early 1900s, 210 Commercial Street is a six-story, multi-wythe brick masonry structure. Gale evaluated the building envelope and performed exploratory testing of the façade elements. Extended exposure to water infiltration compromised the brick masonry mortar joints. This moisture also corroded much of the embedded steel that supported the floor structure and building storefront elements. The original windows lacked the proper flashings, resulting in numerous leaks. Gale developed a report of the evaluation findings, including a description of the façade deficiencies and a prioritized list of recommended repairs. We also included schematic designs for window flashings, replacement lintels, and embedded steel elements to detail the scope of work involved to repair the façade components.
