EXTERIOR WALL EVALUATION

Constructed in 1982, the Executive Conference Center (ECC) at Babson College is a low-rise, multi-story building. It is used for professional conferences and includes hotel accommodations and a dining area. The Center received an addition and exterior wall renovations in 2002 and 2003, which included re-siding with cementitious clapboard. As a result of visual siding defects and long-term performance concerns, Babson College retained Gale to conduct exterior wall evaluations and field testing of the building and adjacent parking garage structure. Based on our research and field services, it was Gale’s opinion that the siding problems were caused by defective materials and installation errors.
