STADIUM RENOVATIONS

Gale provided planning, design, and permitting of the renovations. We eliminated an undersized track to make room for an MIAA-compliant synthetic turf athletic field for soccer and football. Gale also incorporated a segmental block retaining wall on the perimeter of the field to eliminate several grade transitions and different surface types between the field and the existing bleachers; the new wall provides improved access and aesthetics.

The project required special care during design and permitting because the stadium is located within a 100-year floodplain along a tidal estuary and floods regularly. We also designed all the systems to accommodate periodic flooding.
