RENOVATIONS AND STRUCTURAL STABILIZATION OF THE SOUTH ENTRANCE PORTICO
The Emery Grover School Administration Building was experiencing masonry deterioration caused by building settlement and deterioration of the entrance floor slab and steel beams caused by moisture penetration. Due to historic architecture of building, removal of portico was not considered and temporary stabilization was required. Gale used a series of steel angles, struts, and ties to provide temporary stabilization of brick masonry arches. The entrance slab and beams were stabilized by new concrete foundation supports and concrete mat. Stairs and flooring were properly flashed, sealed and waterproofed.
