The Division of Capital Asset Management (DCAM) Presents Gale with an Honor Award

Gale received an honor award for Design and Construction from DCAM on April 16, 2008. The award was for the Repair of Thermal Storage Tank #1 at the Transportation Building in Boston, MA. The ceremony took place at the State House and was attended by Governor Deval Patrick.

Edward J. Stewart represented Gale at the award ceremony and is pictured on the right with Lou Renelli and Mike Ferraro of Architectural Building and Restoration (ABR) and Vladimir Taytslin of DCAM. Congratulations to the entire team!

Ira Allen Chapel (University of Vermont) Wins Preservation Award

Preservation Burlington awarded the University of Vermont the 2008 Preservation Award in the Institutional Category for the restoration work performed on the Ira Allen Chapel. Gale has been serving as the Building Envelope Consultant on this $3 million restoration project. We designed the historic window repair/replacement, slate and copper roof replacement, and extensive masonry restoration. We also designed extensive wood restoration and replacement of gold leaf on two domes.

Baltimore Hotel Corporation Awards Gale with a Board Citation

T. Stephen Kisielnicki, CDT, CCS received a Board Citation from the Baltimore Hotel Corporation for performing building envelope design assistance and construction administration/monitoring for the new Hilton Baltimore Convention Center Hotel in Baltimore, Maryland. The citation states: "We have issued and signed this certificate as an earnest appreciation for the splendid quality of service you have rendered to the project."

Recent Project Wins

  • The Department of Capital Asset Management (DCAM) recently awarded Gale a $750,000 house doctor contract to perform the Study and Design of Exterior Envelope Systems at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
  • Smith College has hired Gale to plan a new field hockey and lacrosse facility at their existing athletic campus.
  • After performing a DCAM-certified study at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, Gale was awarded the design. We will design repairs to the low-slope roofs and the steep-sloped standing seam roof system. The Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center is pictured at the right.

  • George Mihov, E.I.T., Cindy Bresnahan, and Peter Spanos, E.I.T. recently passed the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Professional Accreditation Exam and the LEED-NC (New Construction and Major Renovations) Exam. Congratulations to George and Peter for becoming LEED Accredited Professionals.
  • Congratulations to Rebecca M. Buntrock, E.I.T. for recently passing the Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) exam.
  • Edwin D. Eckard, II, RRC recently passed the RCI exam for Registered Roof Consultant. Congratulations Edwin.

2007 Project of the Year and Award of Excellence in the Water Category- International Concrete Repair Institute

The International Concrete Repair Institute (I.C.R.I.) of New England awarded Gale with the 2007 Project of the Year Award and National I.C.R.I. awarded Gale with the 2007 Award of Excellence in the Water Category for the concrete restoration work we performed for the three underground water storage tanks at the Massachusetts State Transportation Building. The water storage tanks are located three stories below-grade in the center of Boston, MA. Each of the three tanks had been leaking thousands of gallons of water each day, causing concern about the possible undermining of the structures.

Boston Facade Ordinance 9.9-12

The Inspectional Services Department (ISD) requires buildings over 70 feet to be inspected by a licensed engineer or architect to determine if pedestrian safety is being compromised by facade deficiencies.
