Project of the Year - International Concrete
Repair Institute
The
International Concrete Repair Institute
(I.C.R.I) of New England awarded Gale with
the 2006 Project of the Year Award for the
work we performed at 330 Stuart Street in
Boston, MA. Constructed in 1927, 330 Stuart
Street is a historically significant transitional
building. Gale evaluated the building and
designed repairs to the brick masonry, concrete,
limestone panels and decorative elements.
We also designed the repair and replacement
of the embedded steel structural supports.
2003 Preservation
Design Award (Restoration Category)
In
January, 2001, a truck traveling over 70
m.p.h. was purposely driven into the historic
California State Capitol, causing an explosion
and fire that damaged the stone veneer and
wooden doors of the building. The damaged
portico and adjacent exterior wall needed
to be reconstructed. Carey and Company,
the historical architect, retained Gale
to serve as the waterproofing consultant
for the restoration. Gale, along with other
consultants, was awarded the 2003 Preservation
Design Award in the Restoration Category
for this project.
2003 Preservation
Award (Cambridge Historical Commission)
On
May 22, 2003, the Cambridge Historical Commission
recognized Gale for "outstanding efforts
to preserve and maintain historic properties
throughout the city" for the work that
we performed at the Stanstead Building,
19 Ware Street in Cambridge, MA. Our work
included repointing the masonry veneer,
removing and replacing the existing windows,
and removing and replacing the front entrance
door and stairway to enhance the building’s
aesthetics.
2002 Design
Excellence Gold Award
The
American Council of Engineering Companies
of Massachusetts (ACEC/MA) awarded Gale
Associates with the 2002 Design Excellence
Gold Award for our work on the Holyoke Municipal
Athletic Complex. Gale designed a multi-radial
track with a full National Collegiate Athletic
Association (NCAA) regulation soccer field
in the track infield. The project integrates
the stadium complex with the adjacent city
pool and state hockey arena, making the
Roberts Field Athletic Complex the finest
stadium in western Massachusetts.
